The Bohlin watch features a unique combination of the finest Swiss craftsmanship with the Spirit of the American West

    • A thousand years ago, horse owners began to protect their horses hoofs.
    • Originally, booties were made from hides and woven from plants.
    • In Roman times, leather and metal  "hipposandals" fitted over the horse's feet and fastened with leather straps like the owners' sandals.
    • Metal shoes began to be nailed to the horses' feet in the sixth and seventh century.
    • Horseshoeing became a mainstream practice around 1000 AD
    • Cast from Bronze, the shoes were lightweight and had a scalloped outer rim with six nail holes.
    • As time passed, the shoes became more rounded, held eight nails and were slightly heavier.
    • "Good Luck"  began to be associated with shoes in the 13th and 14th centuries.
    • Fred Harman is the author of The Red Ryder Comic Books
    • In lieu of payment, he gave Ed Bohlin the registered trademark to the Bucking Horse.
    • Used on the cover of our 1938 catalogue, the Bucking Horse image has become synonymous with the Bohlin company.
